Undated manuscript volume recording an account of the story that differs slightly from the pamphlet written by Elizabeth Pinckney Huger and published in Charleston, S.C., ca. 1881 under the title: "Statement of the Attempted Rescue of General Lafayette from Olmutz," a prison now located in the Czech Republic. This volume may represent an earlier draft copy; end paper on the front cover of the volume bears the signature of C[leland] K[inloch] Huger.

Francis Kinloch Huger was born in Charleston, South Carolina, in September, 1773, and died there in 1855. At the age of eight, he was sent to study in England, remaining abroad until he had finished his education and medical studies.
